Anantara Dhigu Resort : The Maldives (Facebook Scam)
A fake “Anantara Dhigu Resort : The Maldives” Facebook page is trying to scam Facebook users by claiming to give away 1 person and 3 of their friends a stay at the resort and $2,500 spending cash. However, this is not true and you will not be given a chance to win a stay at the Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort if you follow the instructions posted by the deceitful Facebook page.
The fake Anantara Dhigu Resort : The Maldives Facebook page published a post on June 7th, 2016 that says “Within the next 72 hours we’re jetting one person off to The Maldives along with 3 friends staying in our 5 star resort + $2,500 spending cash. Want to win? Just share this post, one share will be chosen at complete random. The winner will be announced, like our page for updates.”
The claims made by the Facebook page are not true. This is a like-farming scam designed to acquire Facebook likes and promote the Facebook page by getting victims to share the dishonest post. In the future, the Facebook page can be used for other scams, including survey-scams designed to phish personal information. The scammers might even change the page title and embed links that direct Facebook users to websites that host malware and manual share web attacks capable of hijacking logged-in Facebook accounts.
