Facebook Scam: Facebook will donate $1 for every share for sick children
There is a current Facebook hoax and scam that claims Facebook will donate $1 to sick children for every share of a certain article or post. If you see this message, ignore it because it is in no way associated with Facebook and is not true. It may be designed by scam artists to bait users into clicking malicious links and spreading malware.
In some cases a Facebook account will become hijacked if a user clicks links provided by the Facebook message. This may be why you see friends of yours share these types of posts on their Timeline and in your News Feed.
In other cases a user may be directed to a fake survey developed to siphon manually submitted user information, including full names, home addresses, telephone numbers, and more.
