Hoax: Another giant skeleton discovered in Bulgaria
A hoax spread by satire news publications claims that a team of archaeologists have uncovered the skeletal remains of a giant in the Bulgarian city of Varna. The report features a picture depicting a giant skeleton with a group of archaeologists crouch around the bones.
The claims spread by the satire publications are entirely nonsense and untruthful. No giant skeleton has been unearthed by archaeologists in Bulgaria. The image that spreads with the fake news reports is patently fake. It was produced with photo editing software by combining a photograph of archaeologists excavating the remains of a dinosaur with a photograph depicting a very old and normal sized human skeleton. There have been many giant skeleton hoaxes in the past and this is just another one.
This particular giant skeleton hoax claims that the giant human is estimated to have lived and died during the 5th century AD. However, this is false. If giant skeletal remains were discovered this type of story would be mainstream and not shared in the blogosphere and social media as it is.
Some internet trolls are confused by this story. Let’s make this clear: A skeleton of a tall man was found in Bulgaria; However, the skeleton of a giant man (pictures) was not found. Giants do not exist.
