(Hoax) Body Of Homeless Man Found In Fast Food Restaurant Was BOB MARLEY!
An internet hoax spreading around claims that Jamaican authorities conducted a DNA test on the body of a homeless man found behind a fast food restaurant and discovered that the man was reggae star Bob Marley.
This is an internet hoax that has been around for along time; or atleast aspects of it as in the relation to deceased celebrities. The work of fiction is mostly circulated by satire web publications that specialize in producing fake news articles. Recently a group of satire websites have published reports claiming that an elderly homeless man was discovered in a discarded cardboard box behind the back of a fast food joint in downtown Kingston, Jamaica and that it was Bob Marley. The claims made in the reports are nonsense. No such discovery has been made in Jamaica. Unfortunately, Bob Marley died in 1981.
False reports claim “Body Of Homeless Man Found In Fast Food Restaurant Was Bob Marley”
According to a report that has been making its way around the Internet since May 2015, Jamaican authorities made a shocking discovery when they conducted DNA tests on the body of a homeless man found behind a fast food restaurant in Kingston.
The false report starts out saying “the body of an elderly homeless man was discovered in a discarded cardboard box behind the back of a fast food joint in downtown Kingston, Jamaica” and that “no identification had been found on the body.. the only possessions the old man had on him were a faded photograph of the Houses of Parliament in London, a dented tin containing a small quantity of marijuana and a battered old guitar.”
Furthermore stating that the results of a DNA test reveled that the old man police had discovered behind the fast food restaurant was none other than reggae superstar … BOB MARLEY. The fake news article goes on to claim that “government officials removed the body of Marley, along with the DNA results and the coroner’s report into the death.”
In the end, the coroner “couldn’t stay silent about this, despite having no evidence because the government took it all away to a secret location somewhere.”
However, the claims in this report are utter nonsense. No such discovery has been made. Sadly, Bob Marley did pass away back on May 11, 1981 from Metastatic melanoma.
The fictional report was published by satire publication Yassbissh.net and The Richmond Globe on May 21 and 22, in 2015. Both websites are purely ‘entertainment’ websites that mix factual news stories with made up nonsense. Both of the websites make no effort to let readers know which is which. It is a scheme used by many websites to create provocative content that may cause anxiety, shock, and fear and translate into website traffic to help boost advertisement impressions and clicks.
