Hoax: The minimum legal drinking age in the U.S. is being raised to twenty-five
Beware of a message in your email inbox that says something similar to “The minimum legal drinking age in the U.S. is being raised to twenty-five as of 2 August 2014.” This spam message is currently circulating around the internet in order to cause a disturbance and/or spread malware via malicious links contained in the message.
The spam email may claim to be sent from ABC NEWS or another network in order to make the scam seem realistic.
This is only a spam message, the drinking age is not changing in the United States to the age of 25. This is a hoax meant as a joke or to cause harm. Different states have their own drinking laws to consume and purchase alcohol.
Legal age to drink has change to 25 as of August 2014 As of August 2, 2014 legal age to drink wil be 25. There has been controversy whether 21 is too young to make decisions. Alot of citizens state at that age they are not mentally responsible to drink. So the legislation at the White House has come to an agreement to have legal age changed to 25. ABC NEWS
