Woman infected with infectious viral disease as a result of dog kiss (Hoax)
An internet hoax claims that a woman became infected with an infectious viral disease as a result of dog kiss. The hoax uses an image of a woman kissing a dog on the lips and another image of a person with herpes. However, the image of the woman kissing her dog is celebrity Jessica Simpson and humans cannot become infected with canine herpes by kissing their dog – or at all for that matter.
While there is such thing as canine herpes, also called CHV or fading puppy syndrome, it cannot be transmitted from a dog to a human. Canine herpes is usually transmitted to puppies from a female dog during birth. It is the leading cause of death in newborn puppies. CHV can also be transmitted between an infected and an uninfected dog via aerosol and direct contact, including sneezing, coughing, nosing, sniffing, licking and sexual activities. Furthermore, any sort of canine viral infection is typically only spread to humans through contact with feces and not saliva.
